Book clubs can be laser focused or broadly diverse. While the Roanoke Gay Men’s Book Club is tightly defined in its membership, the reading list is another matter.
Titles read by the group are suggested by members in turn, and they span fiction, non-fiction, biography, mystery and science fiction. Past books include Beth Macy‘s Truevine, The Days of Anna Madrigal by Armistead Maupin, East of Eden by John Steinbeck, Giovanni’s Room by James Baldwin and Phillip Johnson: A Life.
Established 15 years ago, the club took a few years off and reformed in 2014. Currently the seven members are all over 50, but the group is welcome to all ages.
