You can support local authors by voting in the People’s Choice award categories of the Library of Virginia’s 20th Annual Literary Awards. Both Beth Macy (Nonfiction: Truevine) and Elizabeth Poliner (Fiction: As Close to Us as Breathing) are in the running. Online voting is a quick process, but you do need a Google account to participate online. Alternatively a paper ballot may be submitted.
Other authors with local ties (Hollins) who are eligible for the award are Lee Smith (Nonfiction: Dimestore) and Carrie Brown (The Stargazer’s Sister). Winners will be announced on October 14 Literary Awards dinner. Votes will be accepted through July 15.
