The New Connections Book Club will meet on Thursday, June 28, to discuss Parker J. Palmer’s Healing the Heart of Democracy. Thanks to Roanoke Public Libraries, which will provide the Teen Meeting Room of the Main Library for the 6 PM gathering.
This book group is open to all, and it’s a bit self organizing. We’ll gather at this first meeting for an overview of reactions and conversation about the book. If the group wants to go deeper, we’ll plan how. New Connections Book Club is a nonpartisan gathering of those interested in how we better work together in community. Each quarter, we’ll focus on a different book, recommended and hosted by a different elected official or civic leader. Roanoke City Council Member Bill Bestpitch recommended and will host this conversation.
