Everyday assumptions are challenged and opinions are expressed in the editorial page of the Roanoke Times. This week we’ll take a look at it: what is its purpose and how does it accomplish it?

Our Newspaper: Your Voice will be a casual conversation with The Roanoke Times’ Dwayne Yancey, editor of the editorial page.  The event will be hosted by Raleigh Court Branch Librarian Linde Furman and will take place on Tuesday, 10/30, at 6 PM in the community room of the Raleigh Court Branch Library.

yanceyFINALJoin neighbors for a little history on the role of the editorial and opinion pieces in our region’s newspaper, how Dwayne came to be the editor, how he approaches writing the editorials, and what he looks for in the pieces the newspaper publishes.

This event is part of Roanoke Valley Reads 2018, an exploration of understanding and empathy in effecting change in the world around us.

The library is at 2112 Grandin Road, SW. Put the Facebook event on your calendar. For more information, call (540) 853-2240.
