Congratulations are in order for Roanoke author Mary Carter Bishop. The paperback edition of Don’t You Ever: My Mother and Her Secret Son, comes out July 30th from Harper Paperbacks. The book will have a new epilogue, and to mark the release, Mary will be speaking at several events around Virginia in the coming months.
So if you loved the book, as a great many did, let your friends across the commonwealth know where they can hear Mary, purchase a copy, and, I’ll just bet, get a copy inscribed.
Friday, AUG 9, 1 PM: University of Virginia, Charlottesville
Catch Mary in the auditorium of the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library. “Beautiful, Ugly Place: How Growing up a Keswick Farmhand’s Daughter Stoked My Journalism.” Mary will talk about Albemarle County’s social gaps during her childhood and how they wound up spurring her investigative journalism for more than forty years.
Thursday, AUG 29, 6:30 PM Essex Public Library, Tappahannock
Librarian Dana Smook will interview Mary. The Essex Library staff picked Don’t You Ever as one of their 2018 favorites.
