★ New Little Free Libraries to be dedicated in Roanoke County Parks this week

Eagle Scout Steven Butler has built new Little Free Libraries for use in Roanoke County. Installed at three sites across the County, each is being dedicated with a book event. While one took place last Thursday (at Garst Mill Park, 2699 Willow Lawn Street), you still have two chances to take part in the festivities.

  • Tuesday, July 30, 2 PM: Walrond Park, 6824 Walrond Drive, Roanoke
  • Thursday, August 1, 2 PM: Green Hill Park, 2500 Green Hill Park Road, Salem

Each event will feature a ribbon cutting, a make-your-own Little Free Library craft, refreshments, and books.

Partners in the project included the County, the County’s Parks and Recreation Department, and area schools. Each Little Free Library has a theme implemented by a different school.

Garst Mill Park’s Little Free Library, designed by North Cross, features flower paintings. Walrond Park, painted by Northside, is a Dr. Seuss motif of “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” Green Hill Park features kite flying and was painted by Community School.
